EPESUS project is divided into five research themes. The interaction between the related work packages is extremely important in EPESUS project. The successful integration of the studies carried out in the separate WPs are essential to the reach the ultimate goal of the project.
The first research theme will be devoted for Definition of Waste Management Parameters activities. In reletad WP we will prepare the required set of data and parameters in order to establish a system in which EIP industries will have information about how economic the implementation of EU standards in their companies in terms of materials and waste can be.
The second research theme will be devoted for Definition of Energy Efficiency Methodology relevant activities. Project team will compile and modify the data for the software tool, regarding energy efficiency of Eco-Industrial Park buildings and processes.
This theme will also evaluate existing software tools ENE.NET, international
code an & standards such as LEED & BREEAM and guidance documents regarding energy efficiency of Eco-Industrial Park processes.
The third research theme will be devoted for Information System Development activities. This theme is directly related with the proper development of first and second research themes. This theme is also related to the fourth research theme while getting feedbacks from the case studies in order to develop and finalize the EPESUS system.
The fourth research theme will be devoted for Case Studies within Industrial Parks. The studies will be carried out in three different countries. The experience of implementing the system in the industrial parks in these countries will be a crucial benefit for the EPESUS system development. The feedback gained from these industrial parks will help to improve the user-friendly EPESUS system for the companies.
Finally, the fifth research theme will work on Preparation of Training Materials and the Training Programme. The EPESUS team aims to address the issues that are related with establishing an Eco-Industrial Park in a comprehensive study and document them guidance materials. This study outputs will form a guidance handbook. Managerial, economic, strategic and architectural issues for EIPs will be the main research areas that this handbook will cover.
